New Zealand's Premier GT Racing Championship

About the Series

Since first hitting the track in 2023, the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship has showcased the very best of GT racing in New Zealand, bringing world-class machinery and manufacturer involvement to circuits across the country.

In 2026, the series moved into its next phase when the Quinn Group took ownership, bringing decades of involvement in GT racing as both competitors and promoters, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for GT racing in New Zealand.

Cars

Porsche and GT4 come together for 2026/27, combining two of the world's most popular forms of GT racing and an exciting variety of machinery.

Classes

Four classes will battle it out, with the Porsche Endurance Trophy Class joined by GT4 Silver, Silver/AM and AM, giving everyone plenty to fight for.

Race Format

Sprint Rounds will feature two 20-minute and two 45-minute races, while the two-hour Mini Quinny Enduro provides a completely different challenge.

BoP

Balance of Performance (BoP) helps create close, competitive racing by balancing the performance differences between the various models on the grid.

Circuits

The series will visit some of New Zealand's best circuits, giving fans across the country the chance to see some of the world's most exciting GT cars in action.

Coverage

Every round will be broadcast live on Sky and YouTube as part of the Repco NextGen NZ Championship, ensuring fans can follow the action across the season.

The Cars

The Championship showcases an exciting mix of Porsche GT3 Cup and GT4 machinery, with some of the world's leading manufacturers represented across the field.

Porsche GT3 Cup

Multiple generations of the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car make up the Porsche Endurance Trophy Class, with 991.1, 991.2 and 992.1 machinery all represented.

Eligible cars: Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 991.1, 991.2 and 992.1
Engines: Naturally aspirated flat-six; 3.8-litre (991.1) and 4.0-litre (991.2/992.1)
Engine power: 460–510 hp, depending on generation
Weight: Approx. 1,200–1,260 kg, depending on generation
Transmission: Six-speed sequential with paddle shift
Drive: Rear-wheel drive
Tyres: Michelin control tyre

GT4

The GT4 field features SRO-homologated machinery from a range of manufacturers, with drivers competing across GT4 Silver, Silver/AM and AM based on classification.

Eligible cars: Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 EVO Audi R8 LMS GT4 BMW M4 GT4 (F82, G82 & G82 EVO) Ford Mustang GT4 Ginetta GT4 (G55 & G56) Lotus Emira GT4 McLaren Artura GT4 Mercedes-AMG GT4 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS (CS) Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2
Engines: Original manufacturer, ranging from turbocharged straight-sixes and V8s to naturally aspirated flat-sixes, V8s and V10s
